Abu Dhabi has introduced a new mandatory training curriculum for real estate brokers seeking professional licensing, as the emirate moves to strengthen standards in its rapidly growing property market.
The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, has launched the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Broker Transformation Course in collaboration with Mawaheb, ThinkProp and Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM).
The curriculum replaces the previous broker course and is designed to improve regulatory knowledge, professional ethics and advisory skills among real estate brokers.
Successful candidates will receive the ADREC Certified Broker credential, which must be renewed annually to reflect changes in Abu Dhabi’s property laws and regulations.
Abu Dhabi introduces new real estate broker training requirements
The mandatory curriculum is aimed at brokers seeking professional licensing in Abu Dhabi.
Developed by a committee of senior local and international real estate brokers and experts, the course draws on recognised international professional standards and qualifications.
It covers legal and regulatory requirements, property market practices, operational knowledge and professional ethics.
Participants will also undertake practical training, including a comprehensive property transaction simulation and a final assessment of their professional readiness.
The programme is intended to establish consistent professional competencies and prepare brokers to provide advisory services to investors and other market participants.
Abu Dhabi property transactions reach $32m in H1 2026
The initiative comes as Abu Dhabi’s real estate sector continues to expand.
According to ADREC’s H1 2026 real estate transactions report, the emirate recorded AED117bn ($31.9bn) in property transactions during the first six months of 2026, an increase of 112 per cent year on year.
During the same period, ADREC issued 2,040 licences for real estate professionals, up 34 per cent.
The number of licensed real estate brokers reached 3,302.
ADREC said the growing scale of the market and increasing international investment have reinforced the importance of consistent professional standards and service quality.
New training programme to prepare 60 Emiratis for real estate careers
Alongside the mandatory broker curriculum, ADREC has partnered with Mawaheb, part of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE), to prepare 60 Emirati nationals for professional real estate brokerage licences.
The programme will begin with an open day, followed by a one-week training course and three months of practical experience with nine leading real estate organisations.
Participants will receive support to meet professional accreditation requirements, with potential employment opportunities following successful completion.
The initiative supports Emiratisation by creating a pathway for UAE nationals to enter the property sector.
ADREC introduces annually renewable broker certification
Under the new curriculum, successful candidates will receive the ADREC Certified Broker credential.
The certification must be renewed annually to reflect changes in the emirate’s real estate laws and regulations.
Memoranda of understanding with ThinkProp and Abu Dhabi School of Management cover the delivery and development of training programmes and accredited courses leading to ADREC professional certification.
Rashed Al Omaira, Director General of ADREC, said the curriculum would establish consistent standards of regulatory knowledge and professional conduct for brokers in the emirate.
He highlighted the importance of brokers’ advisory role, particularly as they are often the first point of contact for investors entering the property market.
The initiative also involves cooperation with the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi, ThinkProp and Abu Dhabi School of Management to develop professional capabilities and support new entrants to the sector.
